15 countries and 8 months: Celebrating the 30s With a Trip Around the World
WORLD

The TV goes on and the snowed landscapes of Siberia, Mongolia and Alaska appear. Then, the frame changes to aphrodisiac beaches in the Philippines, Costa Rica and the Maldives. The frame changes once more and the explorers appear in the summit of the Everest. “One day I will go there. I also want to see those places” — my 13 years-old says to herself. And now that I just turned 30, the thought hasn’t changed a bit and as a gift to myself I will be leaving for an 8 month-trip around the world this upcoming April.
The preparations have already started and even though I am not planning on having a day-by-day schedule, the countries for the trip have more or less being chosen. They are countries where I will be able to also enjoy my other great passion: hiking and trekking in the nature. Thus, don’t expect to see in my list or Instagram pictures long stays in cities besides the required stops from place to place.
The passport is being renewed, the visa applications filled and the vaccinations on its way. Plane, bus and train tickets will be bought for the first 2 months during February and departure is scheduled for the beginning of April from Moscow.
Wanna join me along the way? Here the countries we will be visiting:
April — Russia and Siberia
May — Mongolia and China
June — Laos and Japan
July — Malaysia and Singapore
August — Australia and New Zealand
September — Argentina, Chile and Bolivia
October — Peru and the West Coast of USA
November — Alaska, Canada and USA (New York)
December — Spain and back to Finland
So far the most detailed routes are found for the Trans-Mongolian and the China journeys. However, few places and timings will for sure still change in the upcoming months. What do you think of this itinerary? Any location in these countries that you will recommend me to pay a visit? Or maybe do you have some tips regarding things to do, dishes to taste or travel tips? Or do you know any local on these locations that would be a perfect host or guide for a couple of days?
Let me know in the comment section below and do not forget to keep in eye on my Twitter or Instagram for more updates about the trip preparations and changes to the routes.
